Based in the area of Charleroi, our client is an industrial company active in energy and automation technologies.

To ensure their strong growth, we are looking for a R&D Mechanical Design Engineer - Energy (M/F).


Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Develop the next generation capacitors focusing on the mechanical design.
  • Lead R&D project and closely collaborate with colleagues, customers, suppliers and other external partners.
  • Lead and participate in FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Design experimental set-ups, conduct tests and analyze test results, possibly including electromechanical modelling.
  • Work with a global R&D team ensuring a knowledge sharing, timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Close collaboration with Power Grids Research organization and with academia.
  • Create ideas and proposals for new R&D projects.
  • Document results in the form of technical reports, presentations, IP etc.

Profile

  • PhD or MSc combined with a background in mechanical design of Film Capacitors or High Voltage products.
  • Ideally 5 years working experience in the field of film capacitors, film metallization (product or process).
  • Solid understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly) and DFS (Design for Serviceability) principles.
  • Experience conducting FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Minimum 5 years 3D CAD modelling experience (SolidWorks or Creo).
  • Sound analytical skills and experience with planning, conducting and analysis of experiments.
  • Ability to also work in other technical areas, as for example: materials, insulation systems, thermal management, multiphysics integration.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written) and team worker.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience in, or ability to develop, project management and technical leadership skills.
