To support their expansion and optimize their research pipeline, we are recruiting a Director of Discovery (M/F).


Responsibilities

As the Director of Discovery, you will lead Neuvasq’s Discovery efforts, managing early-stage research programs and driving the development of innovative antibody-based therapeutics. Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, you will play a central role in shaping the company’s scientific vision and pipeline.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of scientists engaged in cutting-edge discovery research and activities.
  • Define target product profiles aligned with the company’s strategic vision and scientific framework.
  • Design, engineer and optimize novel antibodies to target the Wnt pathway.
  • Supervise the implementation and validation of in vitro and cell-based assays for antibody characterization and optimization.
  • Establish strong relationships with internal and external research teams and functions.
  • Stay abreast of the latest literature and developments in the field and propose innovative research strategies.
  • Build and manage collaborations with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) to enhance research capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive research protocols.
  • Design robust, detailed project plans and budgets for the Discovery team.
  • Participate in issue-resolution teams, contributing to hypothesis generation, and innovative solutions.

Profile

  • You hold a Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field, with relevant post-doctoral or equivalent experience.
  • You justify at least 10 years of experience in antibody-based drug discovery from early stage to IND filing, ideally in retinal diseases or CNS disorders.
  • You demonstrate in-depth understanding of antibody technologies, including bispecific antibodies; experience in neurology and/or ophthalmology is a plus.
  • You have strong leadership skills and a collaborative mindset, ideally in a biotech start-up environment.
  • You can communicate complex scientific ideas clearly, solve problems with critical thinking and prioritize research objectives.
