Responsibilities

As a Senior Research Associate you join the Cell-Biology/Protein Chemistry group within the R&D Department. You are responsible for developing and carrying out biochemical and cell-based assays and daily activities in the lab.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Express and purify engineered proteins for downstream evaluation.
  • Support the development of cell-based assays that recapitulate various aspects of the biology of the blood-brain barrier.
  • Evaluate drugs for their ability to interfere with pathways involved in the blood-brain barrier homeostasis.
  • Contribute to the development of engineered cell lines to support assay development.
  • Collaborate with other scientists for the design of in vivo studies aiming at the evaluation of selected molecules in relevant disease models.
  • Comply with relevant regulations, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in lab management activities.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biochemistry, biology, life sciences or related field.
  • At least 5 years experience in a comparable position in a biotech/industrial environment.
  • Experience in protein purification techniques such as affinity chromatography, IEX, HIC and SEC.
  • Experience in vector design and recombinant protein expression in eukaryotic systems.
  • Knowledge of protein chemistry techniques, such as SDS-PAGE, western-blot, or ELISA. Experience with FACS or Biacore/Octet would be an additional asset.
  • Good knowledge of molecular biology and cloning techniques. Knowledge of CRISPR-Cas9 and/or AAV or lentiviral vectors is a plus.
  • Experience in cell culture techniques, including ideally primary cell culture.
  • Well organized, flexible, and rigorous. Team-spirit oriented. Ability and willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience in CNS biology is a plus.

Offer

  • A stimulating position within a high-potential innovative biotech company.
  • The opportunity to work in a science-driven, dynamic, respectful, and professional team.
  • A challenging scientific and business growth in which you get to bring your skills.
  • A permanent contract with an attractive salary package in line with the position responsibilities and your experience.
