To strengthen the Widen team and contribute to the growth of the Belgian office, we are looking for a:
Consultant & Business Developer (M/F/X) – Reward, Organisation & Talent
Responsibilities
Widen is looking for a consultant who combines three things: building a network, winning work and delivering it themselves. At Widen, clients work with the person who pitched the proposal, from the first conversation with the CEO or HR Director to the final presentation to the executive committee or board.
Your main responsibilities are:
Building a network
- Build lasting relationships with CHROs, HR Directors, Heads of Reward, CEOs and CFOs, in Belgium and abroad.
- Be visible where our clients are: Widen masterclasses, guest lectures, professional associations, events and LinkedIn.
- Maintain relationships with partners who refer clients to us or deliver projects with us.
Business development
- Spot and qualify opportunities with new and existing clients, where one project often leads to the next: from pay transparency to job architecture, career frameworks and skills.
- Lead scoping conversations at executive level and turn the client’s brief into a sharp proposal: approach, timeline, team and budget.
- Write and defend proposals and tender responses, backed by Widen’s methods and tools.
- Manage your own pipeline, with commercial targets we agree together in line with your experience.
Delivering projects
- Lead or contribute to projects in job architecture and job evaluation, pay structures and grading, salary benchmarking, pay transparency and pay equity, career and skills frameworks, executive remuneration and organisation design.
- Interview and advise boards, executive committees and HR leadership, run workshops and report to steering committees.
- Act as the client’s main point of contact and keep quality, timing and budget on track.
- Help build Widen’s own models, job library and digital tools, and coach junior colleagues.
Profile
- A Master’s degree in Economics, Business, HR, Psychology or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience in reward, HR or organisation consulting, or in an internal role with high visibility to senior management (reward, C&B, organisation development, HR business partnering). The more experience you bring, the broader the network and the more commercial clout we expect, and the bigger your role and your variable earning potential.
- In-depth knowledge of at least one of our domains: job evaluation and job architecture, reward and benchmarking, pay transparency, career and skills frameworks, or organisation design. Experience with Gradar or another job evaluation method is a plus.
- Commercial instinct. You have already won or expanded work, or you can show you want to take that step.
- Strong analytical skills (Excel, data) and the ability to turn analysis into clear advice for an executive committee.
- Confident presenting to senior audiences and running workshops with them.
- Fluent in English and in Dutch and/or French. Command of both Dutch and French is a strong asset.
- Entrepreneurial and autonomous, comfortable working self-employed and in a small team where initiative pays off.
Offer
- A market with a tailwind: the EU Pay Transparency Directive puts job architecture and pay structures on every HR Director’s agenda, and Widen is already delivering several pay transparency projects.
- Work with CEOs, executive committees and boards from the start, with Belgian and international clients: industry and agri-food, life sciences, European organisations, retail and e-commerce.
- You sell and deliver with Widen’s own IP: a job reference framework with core and sector models, a competency model and, in development, a skills taxonomy and an instrument that measures managerial effectiveness. For job evaluation we use Gradar. Internal training gets you up to speed quickly.
- You work directly with the partners, build your own client portfolio and get room to make a name for yourself in the market.
- Self-employed status with competitive remuneration and a variable component that grows with the work you win and deliver.
- Flexible working: at our office in Zaventem, at client sites and from home.
