Our client is a research and innovation centre dedicated to steel solutions for the construction industry, supporting industrial clients and the broader construction sector with cutting-edgestructural concepts and applied research. As part of their continued development, they are looking for a Construction Engineer specialised in steel structures to join their team :
Construction Engineer – Steel Structures (M/F/X)
Responsibilities
In this role, you contribute to the development, optimisation and validation of innovative structural concepts in steel, in response to the needs of industrial and construction clients. Acting as a true technical project lead, you manage the full project cycle — from needs identification through to results delivery — coordinating expertise in numerical simulation, experimental testing and structural calculation. The role combines applied research, technical engineering and multidisciplinary project management.
- Lead R&D projects on steel structures — define technical objectives, deliverables, budgets and timelines, and ensure quality, cost and schedule compliance
- Analyse and dimension steel structural systems in line with regulatory requirements, and evaluate the technical feasibility of new concepts and products
- Propose design optimisations improving mechanical, economic or environmental performance — with a focus on high-strength and high-performance steel grades
- Define calculation and validation methodologies; supervise advanced FEM simulations and experimental test campaigns in laboratory or prototype settings
- Interpret results and formulate technical recommendations for clients, partners and technical bodies
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders, including industrial partners, laboratories and international clients
- Monitor regulatory and technological developments in steel construction, and contribute to publications, conferences and specialist working groups
Profile
- You hold a Master's degree or Engineering degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent
- You have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, a design office or an innovative research environment.
- You have a solid command of structural mechanics, steel structures and Eurocodes — particularly Eurocode 3 — and a strong understanding of material and connection behaviour
- You are proficient in SCIA Engineer or equivalent structural software; familiarity with finite element analysis tools is a strong asset
- You are capable of managing several technical projects simultaneously, including budget planning, resource scheduling and risk management
- You communicate with clarity and impact — in writing and orally — and are at ease presenting results to clients, partners and technical audiences
- Your English is at least B2 (C1 strongly preferred); French and any other European language are additional assets.
